Océane de Nantuel

My name is Oceane De Nantuel. I come from the Cher area in France, more specifically the Nantuel stud farm. My dad Diamant de Semilly, and my grand-dad Quidam de Revel, were very famous! With such champions in my family tree I could only excel on competition grounds. I am a shining star! And that, Titouan Schmacher my young rider has grasped it.
This month, our Equine Encounter is dedicated to a promising young couple. Tacante met with Oceane and Titouan at the International Jumping of La Baule. Already winners of the Hermes Talents Grand Prix under the roof of the Grand Palais the young couple achieved another victory at La Baule on the first day of the week-end. Meet with a champion!
Do you prefer to work with a male or female rider? Why?
I prefer a female rider as I have worked with male riders all my life and I’ve always given them a hard time! Especially when they come near me with white breeches on! I find this insufferable!
Where do you live?
I live at the Haras des Brimbelles in the Eure area in France, in peaceful and pleasing surroundings. However I am far more jovial when I am participating in a jumping event. My box is right next door to another mare, she’s the only one I can « bear » as she is younger than me and I rule the roost! My groom’s grooming area is right opposite my box which is great to get sweets when she walks past me.
What do you like most about your stable mates?
Nothing. I don’t like any of them!
What is your guilty pleasure?

Sugar cubes, I love them and my groom knows it too well! If I get a sugar cube I am adorable, if I don’t I am obnoxious. I only work with sugar cubes!
What is your favourite colour?
Bloodstock Red, it brings out my colour.
Which dream would you like to come true in your life?
Have a sugar vending machine in my box. That nobody enters my box except to feed me. And overall manage to throw my rider’s bum in the river!
What is your favourite discipline?
Pony-Games but instead they make me jump as they say I am good at it!
When do you feel the happiest?
Once more, when I get sugar cubes….
What do you dislike most in the world?
Humans, horses, dogs, hurdles, shower, grooming, trees, monkeys, lorries, the saddle, arenas, fields, cars, rain, sun… I don’t really like anything.
Which natural gift would you like to have?
I would like to be able to change my colour so I would suit all my Tacante saddlepads ! Or to become invisible so they stop riding me.
During your championship career what has been your best memory?
I have 2 of them. My victory at the Saut Hermes as it was a magical moment. I got at least 70,000 sugar cubes and I was being photographed non-stop! I was acting like a star!
The second one is when my rider eventually took a week off…
Which frame of mind are you in at the moment?
I am mostly in a good mood. I cooperate with my rider even if I’d like him to give me a break to enjoy the good weather which has been forecasted.
Do you have a life motto you would like to share with us?
If you want to win give me some food!
How can we keep up to date with your news?
You can follow me on the Facebook page of my rider Titouan Schumacher, or the Facebook page of the Haras des Brimbelles, or on the national news as, don’t forget, I am a star!
