Rahotep de Toscane is a 10-year-old Selle Français bred horse whose rider is Philippe Rozier. They excelled at the CSI 5* Grand Prix in Madrid where they came second and more recently at the Grand Prix trial for the Eiffel CSI 5* Jumping where the pair came fourth.
The stallion took a few minutes between two competitions to answer a few questions for Tacante.
Do you prefer to work with a male or female rider? Why?
During the competitions I prefer a male rider and I get on very well with my rider Philippe Rozier. I am not saying that I love being pampered by my groom Maud.
What do you like most about your stable mates?
I like Umpulsion with whom I get on well despite him being an entire as I am. We are on an equal footing, neither of us is superior to each other which I find really comforting.
And what do you like most about your rider?
Philippe knows me and understands me perfectly well which prevents any misunderstandings on the course.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I like strokes on the head, my groom gives the best strokes, a pure delight!
What is your favourite colour?
My favourite colour is marl grey, it compliments my complexion so well! TACANTE now knows what to do…
Which dream would you like to come true in your life?
I would like to participate in the next Olympic Games in Rio. I know that I am capable of excelling for my country.
What is your favourite discipline?
It is really in show jumping that I feel invincible. Saying that I never refuse a walk in the woods!
Your favourite meal?
I have a habit of dumping the hay in my bucket before eating it. It tastes far sweeter like that, and I also like carrots like any horse!
When do you feel the happiest?
My favourite moment is at the end of the event when the public applauds my prowess. Then I feel ten feet tall and at this particular time my rider had better hold on tight!
What do you dislike most in the world?
As much as I like strokes on the head I can’t stand my belly being touched. Even the vet struggles!
Which natural gift would you like to have?
A gift? If I could never touch the poles I would be the best. To know how to fly would be fantastic!
During your championship career what has been your best memory?
Without a doubt it was the Madrid Grand Prix. My public was delighted when I finished second. A moment of pure bliss!
Which frame of mind are you in at the moment?
I would say that….. I feel I am ready! I get on really well with Philippe, my training is finished and the public is awaiting us! I am ready to make myself known.
Do you have a life motto you would like to share with us?
“Always higher, always stronger”
How can we keep up to date with your news?
The easiest way is to attend jumping events to support me and most equestrian magazines talk about me. You can also follow me on Philippe Rozier’s Facebook profile.
