Tamtam Dodville gets its name from the stud farm where he was born, on the French banks of the Channel. On Valentine’s Day, a few weeks before the Grand National, Tamtam granted an interview over a candlelight dinner.
Do you prefer to work with a male or female rider? Why?
I get on very well with my rider Alexis Lemaire, we are a great team. So I would say that a male rider suits me.
Where do you live?
I live in a beautiful 18th century farmhouse in the Yvelines area, le Haras de le Clairière, with around 80 colleagues ! The accommodation is pleasant with all amenities and the daily schedule is nice.
What do you like most about your stable mates?
They are all youngsters, so they fool around quite a lot!
What is your guilty pleasure?
It is said that it is nap time… as if I were from the South rather than from Normandy!
What is your favourite colour?
Everything suits me especially the Bloodstock Red Tacante saddlecloth.
Which dream would you like to come true in your life?
Please my rider… or become the fastest horse!
What is your favourite discipline?
Cross-country of course! I love adrenaline and galloping in the great outdoors!
When do you feel the happiest?
Mmm… when I nap! It is even better in the sun!
What do you dislike most in the world?
I do not like contact very much…
Which natural gift would you like to have?
My rider believes I am a gifted horse and so do I.
During your championship career what has been your best memory?
To gallop on English soil. Grass is fat and it reminded me Normandy…
Which frame of mind are you in at the moment?
Ready to fight to the finish! Grand National here I am!
Do you have a life motto you would like to share with us?
Better than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow.
