In full transparency, Tacante reveals its manufacturing processes: innovating while respecting the environment for technical, eco-responsible products made in France.
While many outdoor sports, particularly mountain sports, have long invested in textile R&D to improve the properties of the materials used in their products (breathability, technicality, weight, resistance, etc.) while striving to limit their environmental impact as much as possible, Morgane Carcaillet, founder of Tacante, made the bitter observation that this was unfortunately not the case for equestrianism.
After extensive R&D, in collaboration with a textile design office (specialized in the mountain sports sector) which still supports us, and tests conducted with professional riders, Tacante launched its first product in July 2015: a technical and eco-responsible saddle pad. We thus benefited from the development of intelligent textiles from the outdoor industry (trekking, climbing, hiking, etc.) and adapted their uses to horses while striving to limit our environmental impact.
Since then, our manufacturing process has remained just as rigorous: innovating while adhering to strict eco-design specifications.
Our range is expanding day by day and now includes fly hats for horses, seamless under-bandages / flannels, a new 3D-knitted saddle pad, boiled wool riding jackets, etc. The best way is to visit our online shop to discover them.
ECO-DESIGN AS A STARTING POINT
When we develop a new product, we consider its life cycle in order to assess its environmental impact throughout its existence. This is when we decide on the choice of materials, favouring those with low impact, select the different manufacturing techniques and locations, and anticipate the end-of-life of the product.
LOW IMPACT EUROPEAN RAW MATERIALS
During the R&D phase, we pay particular attention to the choice of materials to ensure that they meet our minimum requirements in terms of environmental impact: recycled materials when available, resistant to use and washing, certified and traceable, recyclable if possible, etc...
THE CHOICE TO PRODUCE IN FRANCE
Our products are designed, manufactured, and assembled in France, using French and European materials with a low environmental impact and no risk to human or equine health.
We prioritize manufacturing processes that generate little to no waste and adopt short production cycles to limit our carbon footprint.
REPAIR AND LAST
Our products are repairable. We are continuously developing our range of services to support you in keeping your Tacante product for as long as possible.
FINALLY RECYCLE
Once all avenues for extending the product's life have been explored, we can consider recycling it. The majority of our products are recyclable. However, this good news must be tempered with the current reality of textile recycling. Indeed, we still have a lot of progress to make in this area to find higher added-value solutions.
